Workshop 1: Adult & Community Learning in South West Wales
Providing a greater understanding of what the Welsh Governments’ ACL Policy Statement ‘Delivering Community Learning’ means to the regions’ learners, and highlighting how we will respond.
Session objectives:
- To contribute to the debate around ACL, to ensure that the regions’ learners have clear progression routes that are linked to FE, HE, employability, skills and entrepreneurship
- To gain further understanding of the regional Forward Work Plan of the RLP ACL Sub-Group, and to comment on its implementation
- To be a forum to share information about each County’s Adult Community Learning Strategic Partnership Plans 2011/12

Workshop 2: Employer Engagement - The Regional Picture
Investigating how a more coordinated approach to employer engagement in South West Wales can better meet the needs of employers, learners and providers.
Session objectives:
- To discuss the key challenges surrounding regional employer engagement in South West Wales, and to contribute to the work of the RLP Employer Engagement Group
- To contribute to the debate of the development of a quality regional brokerage service for South West Wales around tendering opportunities
- To showcase key case studies through the Dragon Innovation Partnership

Workshop 3: Regional Learning & Skills Observatory (RLSO) - Roll out and application
Exploring the work undertaken by the Regional Learning & Skills Observatory, as well as the opportunities presented through a sector approach, to inform its further development.
Session objectives:
- To update partners on progress and impact of the RLSO to date
- To discuss future sectoral roll out in line with the Economic Renewal Programme
- To share the relevance of the RLSO to learners across South West Wales

Workshop 4: Outreach and widening access for STEM in South West Wales: Challenges and Opportunities
A discussion on the challenges and opportunities presented by STEM subjects in south west Wales.
Session objectives:
- To progress the ‘conversation’ around Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM); increasing the take up of these subject areas across all sectors and age groups, with an emphasis on widening access and outreach
- To highlight to all sectors across the Regional Learning Partnership the opportunities of the above via Swansea University’s Bay Campus as an example

Workshop 5: The Dual Sector University - Opportunities for South West Wales
A presentation of the ‘Dual Sector University’, and the opportunities afforded the South West Wales region from this exciting collaboration.
Session objectives:
- To provide partners with an introduction to the Dual Sector University, involving Swansea Metropolitan University, University of Wales Trinity Saint David, Coleg Sir Gar, Coleg Ceredigion, and Pembrokeshire College
- To highlight the opportunities available to learners and potential learners arising from this collaboration
